Brancha (“the app”) is an offline-first family-tree maker for Android, published by Kozo Technology. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information. In short: your family data stays on your device, and we never receive it.
Everything you enter into Brancha — names, dates, relationships, events, places, notes, sources, citations, tags, and photos — is stored only in the app's private storage on your device (a local database and local files). It is never uploaded to us or to any third party. Kozo Technology operates no servers for this app and has no ability to access, view, or recover your tree.
None. The app contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, and no advertising or tracking identifiers used by us. We do not create user accounts and do not ask you to sign in.
Brancha is free and supported by ads, served by Google AdMob. Its core features are never locked.
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID permission for this
purpose.European Economic Area, UK and Switzerland: on first launch the app asks for your consent through Google's certified consent management platform (the User Messaging Platform). No ad is requested before you answer. Personalised ads are shown only if you consent; otherwise you may see limited, non-personalised ads.
United States: if you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law (such as California), you can opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising.
Change your choice at any time: open the app's Settings ▸ Privacy ▸ Privacy options. The entry appears when it applies to your region.
Optional photo features — face detection and tagging, text recognition (OCR), and the document scanner — run on your device using Google ML Kit. Your photos are not sent to us or to Google for these features. ML Kit may download model files from Google Play Services the first time a feature is used.
AD_ID) — used only by AdMob, as described above.POST_NOTIFICATIONS, optional) — if you turn on
reminders, the app posts local birthday and anniversary notifications. These are generated on
your device; nothing is sent anywhere. When you export a chart, report, GEDCOM file, or backup, the app writes the file to the location you choose through the Android system file picker, or shares it to an app you pick. Once a file leaves Brancha this way, it is under your control and the control of wherever you saved or sent it — not ours.
Brancha is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new “last updated” date.
